Marcus H. Loo, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Marcus H. Loo is clinical professor of urology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and an attending urologist at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He graduated with distinction with a B.S. in electrical engineering from Cornell University in 1977. He earned his M.D. from Cornell University Medical College in 1981. After completing his internship, residency and fellowship in general surgery and urology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, he joined the practice of Drs. McGovern and Coleman. Dr. Loo is board certified by the American Board of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and How To Find The Best Doctors in the New York Metro Area.
A member of many national and international societies, Dr. Loo has served as president of the Chinese American Medical Society and as vice president of the Federation of Chinese American and Chinese Canadian Medical Societies (FCMS). He is also a member of the American Urological Association, American Association of Clinical Urologists and Societé International d'Urologie. An active member of the faculty at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, he has served on the Admissions Committee, the Medical Ethics Committee and the Operating Board of Columbia Cornell Care L.L.C. Dr. Loo is a member of the Board of Trustees of Cornell University.
Dr. Loo is the co-author with Marian Betancourt of the textbook, 'The Prostate Cancer Source Book' published by John Wiley and Sons in 1998. He has written numerous
journal articles on aspects of urinary tract obstruction and prostate cancer. The book can be ordered through amazon.com.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) announced in April 2000 a $7.6 million grant to the Asian American Network for Cancer Awareness, Research and Training (AANCART). During the 5 year grant period, AANCART will develop cancer awareness and prevention programs targeted to specific groups of Asian Americans. Dr. Loo will serve as regional clinical director for AANCART in New York.
